To extend the lifespan of the Salmon River Bridge on the 10th Avenue S.W. frontage road, rehabilitation work is scheduled to take place from early January until March 31, 2024.
This crucial infrastructure project aims to enhance the structural integrity of the bridge for long-term sustainability.
DriveBC took a significant step in enhancing road safety by incorporating 11 additional cameras with 27 new perspectives into its network. This expansion aims to provide drivers with a better picture of traffic and weather conditions, particularly crucial during winter travel.
The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure deployed crews across the province to identify optimal locations for these webcams based on the specific needs outlined by contractors, and weather experts.
In order to increase safety and efficiency on Highway 1 in the Shuswap region, the Province is inviting prospective builders to pre-qualify to participate in the bridge replacement project. This marks the beginning of the next phase of the R.W. Bruhn Bridge replacement project.

Upon the implementation of the expanded four-lane configuration, the highway will adhere to a posted speed limit of 80 km/h. We request drivers to observe this specified speed limit in the interest of safety.
Phase 3A of the Fraser Valley Highway 1 Corridor Improvement Program has begun, including expansion through the Fraser Valley to the Sumas Prairie, as well as accelerated advance work along the Highway 1 median east of 264th Street.
