BCTA has coordinated with Fraser Health to ensure the trucking community is vaccinated efficiently and effectively.

As we move into Step 2 of BC’s Restart Plan, BCTA is strongly encouraging carriers to make reservations for their drivers that are travelling on BC Ferries.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) Branch instituted some provisional actions which affected how vehicle inspections were conducted and the functions they could perform to follow the advice and orders of the provincial health officer.

Beginning on February 1, 2022, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority (VFPA) is launching the Truck Licensing System (TLS) Rolling Truck Age Program to age out TLS truck models older than 10 years from the port authority’s Truck Licensing System.

Beginning June 6, 2021, eligible employers can access the Canada Recovery Hiring Program (CRHP).

Trucking HR Canada (THRC) supports the industry with its HR challenges by providing relevant, accurate, and accessible labour market information.

As part of the Highway 91/17 Upgrade Project, the new off-ramp from Highway 17 westbound to River Road and 96 Street is anticipated to open to traffic mid June 2021. The new exit is located approximately 500 metres in advance of the Highway 91C/Highway 17 intersection.

Beginning July 4, 2021, evening intermittent single-lane closures and overnight full closures will occur on Trans-Canada Highway between Golden and west of the Kicking Horse rest area.  Intermittent single-lane closures will occur weekly from Sunday night to Friday night.

In recent years, the trucking industry has continued to dominate Prostate Cancer Canada’s Plaid for Dad fundraising campaign.  Workplaces and individuals are encouraged to wear plaid on June 18- the Friday before Father’s Day- to raise awareness and funds for prostrate cancer research and support
