2025 AGM & Conference Highlights

Westin Resort & Spa, Whistler | June 12–13, 2025

The 2025 BCTA Annual General Meeting and Conference brought together members from across British Columbia’s commercial road transportation industry for two days of connection, insight, and celebration in beautiful Whistler. From timely policy discussions to industry recognition, the event reflected the strength and resilience of BC’s trucking community.

Association Business & Leadership Highlights

The conference began with the Annual General Meeting, where BCTA’s leadership shared updates on strategic progress and priorities for the year ahead. The 2025–26 Board of Directors and Executive Committee were also appointed.

We were honoured to welcome Jay Kiew for the opening keynote, “Evolve: Driving Disruption in the Age of AI.” Jay helped members cut through the noise surrounding artificial intelligence by offering practical insight on how organizations can stay competitive in an era where technology is advancing faster than ever. His talk challenged us to lean into human strengths like vision, curiosity, and connection to navigate the evolving future of work.

Day two featured two impactful business sessions. First, Doug Mills of the Port of Vancouver provided updates on trade growth and infrastructure priorities at Canada’s largest gateway. This was followed by an economic outlook from David Williams, VP of Policy at the Business Council of British Columbia, who delivered an in-depth analysis of the province’s economic challenges and growth opportunities.

Closing Banquet & Service to Industry Award

The conference concluded with a celebratory reception and banquet, themed “Curses & Charms,” that brought members together for a night of fun, laughter, and well-deserved recognition. We thank Honourable Mike Farnworth, Minister of Transportation and Transit, for attending and providing the opening remarks which recognized the importance of BC’s trucking industry in keeping goods and communities connected.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Service to Industry Award to Jerry Gallant, Fleet Sales Manager at Velocity Truck Centres. With a career spanning more than four decades, Jerry’s leadership, mentorship, and deep industry knowledge have shaped the careers of many and contributed meaningfully to the trucking sector in BC.
