As part of the final remaining works on the Highway 91/17 Upgrade Project, a temporary nighttime closure of the Highway 17 westbound offramp to River Road is required.
Traffic Impacts:
People are invited to provide their feedback on possible improvements to transportation in the Kamloops area.
During this second phase of the Kamloops Area Transportation Strategy, the public will be consulted to help build a better understanding of current and future transportation needs. The Kamloops area is a vital connection point between the Trans-Canada Highway and Yellowhead Highway 5 and is a crucial part of the highway system for goods movement.
As part of the final remaining works on the Highway 91/17 Upgrade Project, additional barriers are required to finalize the interchange ramp from Highway 91C westbound to Highway 17 westbound. In order to complete this work, temporary nighttime full closures of this ramp are required in early February.
Traffic Impacts:
Crews are relocating an existing BC Hydro electrical line north of the Steveston Interchange Project.
Starting January 16 and lasting for approximately a month, crews are installing a new electrical line across Highway 99. This work includes installing new wooden electrical poles adjacent to Steveston Highway and Highway 99 ramps, connecting the new line to an existing line on both sides of Highway 99, and removing the existing poles and line.
On Saturday, January 28, additional lane closures will be implemented on Royal Avenue between McBride Boulevard and Dufferin Street as part of ongoing rehabilitation work on the Royal Avenue overpass.
Please note the following traffic pattern changes:
Kicking Horse Canyon Project Phase 4 construction will require extended 24-hour/multi-day closures of the Trans-Canada Highway (TCH) east of Golden during Spring 2023. The timing at this time is approximate, and the following information is subject to confirmation. An update will be issued by February 20, 2023, and the Highway Status Calendar on the project website will be updated on an ongoing basis.
New technology will be implemented on Highway 5A that monitors commercial vehicles and improves safety for drivers and residents close to the route.
Weigh-in-motion and automatic vehicle-identification systems will monitor commercial vehicles at highway speeds using sensors built in and above the highway. The sensors will measure real-time safety and vehicle data, such as weight, height, and tire conditions. This data will then be compared against enforced standards.
Repairs to the 192nd Street crossing over Highway 1 will require overnight westbound highway lane closures starting January 9, to February 15, 2023.
Three lanes of Highway 1 westbound will be closed from 9 pm until 4:30 am, Sunday through Thursday. During these times, all westbound traffic will be routed through the HOV lane.
Drivers can expect delays and should consider alternative routes.
