Closure of Highway 1: Kicking Horse Canyon January Traffic Schedule
The Kicking Horse Canyon Constructors (KHCC) will be implementing evening intermittent lane closures, overnight full closures on Trans-Canada Highway for the Kicking Horse Canyon Phase 4 construction through January.
An alternative traffic route is via Highway 93S and Highway 95, with an additional driving
time of approximately 1.5 hours.
Pattullo Bridge Replacement- Royal Avenue Traffic Impacts
Starting December 16, crews will begin the next stage of work for the Royal Avenue overpass rehabilitation. Crews will create a work zone in the middle of Royal Avenue between Dufferin Street and McBride Boulevard as shown in blue in the map below. Royal Avenue will be reduced to three lanes (two westbound and one eastbound) for approximately four to five months.
Highway 91/17 Upgrade Project- Nordel Way
As part of Highway 91/17 Upgrade Project construction, nighttime stoppages at various locations on Nordel Way will take place over multiple nights in December 2022 for installation of overhead guide signs. Please see the maps below for location details.

Kicking Horse Canyon Eastbound Lanes Are Reopened: Winter ’22 Traffic Schedule
Kicking Horse Canyon Constructors (KHCC) has issued an updated Winter 2022 traffic schedule (covering dates until December 31, 2022).
Kennedy Hill Will Open to Two-way Traffic This Winter
There will be two-way traffic again this winter on the Kennedy Hill section of Highway 4, which will help improve travel time for people driving between Port Alberni and the west coast of Vancouver Island.
The project is now more than 90% complete, and both lanes are planned to be open by early 2023 depending on the weather.
Highway 91/17 Project Update: Traffic Impacts on Highway 91C
As part of Highway 91/17 Upgrade Project construction, a number of new overhead guide signs are required on Highway 91C, between Highway 17 and Highway 91. To complete the installation, nighttime stoppages and lane closures on Highway 91C are required this fall and will take place over multiple nights. Please see map below for location details.

Pattullo Bridge Construction- Northbound Lane Closures
As part of the Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project, crews have been conducting work since late June to rehabilitate the Royal Avenue overpass in New Westminster. This work is being done in stages. Occasional nighttime lane closures for northbound traffic (towards New Westminster) on the Pattullo Bridge and nighttime full closures of the Bridge Connector in both directions have been required while this work has been underway.

Highway 91/17 Upgrade Project Update- New Traffic Signal on Nordel Way
As part of the Highway 91/17 Upgrade Project completion works, a new permanent traffic signal will be activated on Nordel Way westbound in November 2022. This new signal is required as part of the final alignment. Please see the map below for location details.
