Committees
BCTA’s committees give members a direct opportunity to share their expertise, provide industry insight, and help shape the direction of the Association’s advocacy work.
Each committee focuses on key issues affecting BC’s commercial road transportation sector. Through discussion, feedback, and recommendations, committee members help BCTA identify challenges, develop informed policy positions, and advance practical solutions that support the trucking industry.
Whether your experience is in operations, safety, cross-border transportation, human resources, sustainability, insurance, or another area of the industry, your perspective can help strengthen BCTA’s work on behalf of members.
Committees:
Cross Border
Provides input on cross-border transportation issues involving U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Canada Border Services Agency, and other relevant agencies.
Insurance
Advocates on behalf of the motor carrier industry in matters related to ICBC and third-party insurance, including coverage, product development, and commercial vehicle premiums.
Lower Mainland Transportation
Addresses transportation issues in the Lower Mainland, including infrastructure development, transportation planning, truck route networks, and municipal regulations.
Motor Coach
Represents the motor coach sector by addressing passenger transportation policies, regulations, and industry-specific challenges.
Safety
Advances policy development and knowledge-sharing on safety initiatives, including driver behaviour, safety equipment and technology systems, road safety regulations, and the National Safety Code.
Women in Trucking
Develops policy recommendations to support diversity in employment and address issues such as training, safety, compensation, and professional development.
Workforce (formerly Human Resources)
Develops policy positions supporting workforce priorities, including driver training, temporary foreign worker regulations, and long-term workforce development.
Intermodal
Provides a forum for the container and drayage sector, including addressing issues with the Office of the B.C. Container Trucking Commissioner.
Marine Transportation
Focuses on improving the efficient movement of commercial vehicles within BC via marine transportation.
Oversize-Overweight
Reviews and recommends policies related to oversize and overweight loads, including permitting, routing, vehicle configurations, and operating conditions.
Sustainability
Promotes policies, initiatives, and knowledge-sharing that support a lower-emissions, environmentally sustainable commercial transportation sector.
Member Engagement
Shapes member-focused initiatives by sharing ideas for events, training, and engagement opportunities that are practical, relevant, and valuable.
